• Ethan at Bat
  • To celebrate Ethan’s 16 month birthday, we all headed to the ballpark to watch the Giants play the Boston Red Sox. The sold out crowd cheered every play but the real action came after the game, when Ethan, along with scores of other children, was allowed to run the bases.

Like Babe Ruth, tiptoeing around the bases or Roy Hobbs, rounding first as sparks rain down from the flood light, Ethan took his time to savor the really long march around the bases.

Sometime later, we round 2nd and wave to the cheering crowds.

Yup, they’re already cleaning up and we’re still halfway to 3rd base.

OK, made it to 3rd. Let’s make sure we don’t miss the bag otherwise we have to run back and tag it again (which would take, you know, the entire afternoon).

As is with all great baseball legends, (think Babe Ruth calling a home run in Wrigley), there is no recorded evidence that we actually crossed home plate. But those of us who were there (unlike that Babe Ruth shot, Justice Stevens wasn’t in the stands) can attest to seeing it happen. Regardless, we were eventually escorted out with smiles on our faces.

Thank you to our great friends Alicia and Evan for letting us “borrow” their tickets for the day.

(P.S. – Email Ohad if you don’t get all the baseball references)
